How Did That Parent Become THAT Parent?

I’m sitting here wondering  how on earth a parent, which I’m  guessing on any other day is probably a very level headed person, is acting like a complete nut-job. How exactly did this parent become THAT parent.

I’m certain you know what I’m talking about. That parent who looks like your average parent, but then it happens. Her mouth opens and there is nothing “average” about what comes out of her mouth.

What possesses a person, a mom to start ridiculing a player? To make fun of a players nickname? Or comment on their YouTube video? What exactly goes through a grown woman’s head when she forgets not only that shae IS ithe adult, that she SHOULD know better. That she is NOT a 13 year old boy, and she IS a role model to her own children who are witnessing her behavior.

I’ve yet to understand parents who get so involved in their children’s sports, so worked up they forget the game is about winning and losing, and you can’t take it personal. Your son can handle it (probably a lot better than THAT parent).

So my advice to THAT parent…chill. It’s a game, let boys be boys and stop the insanity. As for me, I’ll be the grown-up…doesn’t mean I can’t daydream about a fly ball hitting a certain parent 😏

  1. I taught tennis for years and ran into many a parent such as you describe. I suspect they are living vicariously through their kids: they themselves couldn’t do it, but they are going to see that their kids do!
